You always want what you can’t have — especially when it comes to beauty products. That’s why we’re getting the inside scoop from your favorite retailers on what’s selling out right now, how to sign up for waitlists, and where to go to find the next best thing. Because if everyone’s buying it, you know it’s got to be good.
When it comes to foundation, we are very, very picky. If we're going to buff the stuff all over our faces, we want the formula to be lightweight while still providing excellent coverage — two traits not often found in many of today's offerings.
So when Tarte launched its Rainforest Of The Sea Water Foundation in February, we predicted it would be a winner. Turns out, our prediction was spot-on, because now the foundation is one of the brand's best-selling products at Sephora.
If you miss your chance to buy it, or perhaps just want to try something new, we've rounded up a few of our favorite foundations in the following slides that are so lightweight, they're basically like second skin. Here's to erasing the term "cake face" from our vocabulary.

Although we do wish this foundation had a pump instead of a pipette (pipettes tend to get a little...messy), the formula inside is too good to pass up. One layer of the "watery" foundation masks flaws while giving a slightly dewy finish. Plus, it contains skin-loving ingredients like vitamin E, algae, and marine extracts.
Tarte Rainforest Of The Sea Water Foundation, $39, available at Sephora.

True to its name, this serum-like foundation gives the skin an airbrushed effect. (Translation: It's smoothing, perfecting, and all-around glow-inducing.)
Boots No7 Airbrush Away Foundation, $17.99, available at Target.

Make Up For Ever's classic Ultra HD Foundation looks and feels like nothing on the skin, yet it covers like crazy. Seriously, one pump of this stuff is enough to mask pimples, redness, and hyperpigmentation without looking the slightest bit cakey.
Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation, $43, available at Make Up For Ever.

The newest complexion-enhancing product to join the Charlotte Tilbury family is a foundation with a beautiful demi-matte finish. The creamy formula blends into the skin quickly without settling into any nooks and crannies on the skin.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation, $44, available at Charlotte Tilbury.

L'Oréal's first foray into the cushion foundation game is a definite success. It's lightweight, moisturizing, and can be layered to provide a near full-coverage effect. Plus, for those of you looking for an ultra-luminous formula, this one packs one helluva punch.
L'Oréal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation, $16.99, available at Ulta.

Giorgio Armani's Maestro Foundation is popular among editors and bloggers alike for good reason: It's ridiculously lightweight, covers minor imperfections, and has a gorgeous, smooth satin finish.
Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion Makeup, $64, available at Nordstrom.
